After her boyfriend refuses to take responsibilities for her pregnancy, Hsiao-Peng
jumps into the ocean out of desperation. Fortunately, she is safely rescued, and her
parents arrange her to stay in Madam Pai’s maternity home for young single
mothers. Hsiao-Peng’s roommate Wen-Yueh Tsai, a painter, was sexually assaulted when she was sketching outdoors, and now she often wakes up from nightmares. Ko-Hsin Chang, a happy foodie, is a ray of sunshine to everyone in the maternity home. Yet Hsiao-Peng is consumed by depressive thoughts and self-blame, and occasionally gets into fights with other people in the maternity home. But her mindset slowly changes after hearing Madam Pai’s stories behind founding the facility. Seeing the devastation on Wen-Yueh and Ko-Hsin’s faces when they have to send their children away also makes her determined to keep her baby and move out of her parents' house to stand on her own two feet. With the help of volunteer Kuo-Chuan, Hsiao-Peng begins a new life with her daughter Yuan-yuan, and shares an apartment with Wen-Yueh and Ko-Hsin, who both have careers. These three women support each other and take care of Yuan-yuan together.
